The 1999 RIBA Awards for Architecture have been announced today with no less than 4 awards going to Foster and Partners' projects, more than any other architect or practice. The winning projects are:
Imperial College Sir Alexander Fleming Building
London
Aberdeen Business School, Robert Gordon University
Aberdeen
Reichstag, New German Parliament
Berlin
All 58 awarded projects will now go forward for consideration in the seven 'Category Awards'. These in turn form the shortlist for the 20,000 Stirling Prize. The announcement for the 'Category Awards' will be made at the beginning of Architecture Week on 5 November.
The Awards will be presented by the leading politician Sir David Steel, at a ceremony in Glasgow's Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum. An exhibition of the shortlisted projects will open there on 5 November where the public will be encouraged to vote on their favourite scheme.
