30 St Mary Axe wins Best Built Project Five Years On at London Planning Awards

30 St Mary Axe in the City of London was honoured with the award for Best Built Project Five Years On by the Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, at the London Planning Awards ceremony in City Hall on Monday. The annual awards are run by the Mayor of London, London First, the RPTI and London Councils and recognise planning professionals and organisations that have made a vital contribution to the capital in making it a better place to live, work, do business and visit.

We are delighted that the gherkin is held in such affection by the public. A building that grew from a bomb-ravaged site has become a powerful symbol of resilience and optimism for this great city and it has changed peoples perception of what a tower should look like. We must acknowledge our extraordinary client, the support and vision of the planners and Corporation of London and the current owners, who take such good care of the building.
