It was announced in the Queen's Birthday Honours List on 12 June 1999 that Sir Norman Foster has been honoured with a Life Peerage.
Sir Norman was knighted by the Queen in 1990 and was appointed to the Order of Merit in 1997. Earlier in the week he was presented with the Pritzker Prize for Architecture by Thomas Pritzker at a grand ceremony in Berlin on Monday June 7.
