Foster + Partners is opening its doors once more as part of Open House London weekend with a series of interactive exhibitions and workshops for all ages as part of its annual Riverside Festival. Across several buildings in the campus, there will be a display of recent projects and an exhibition showcasing the practice’s latest projects. Visitors will have a view over the 60-metre riverside studio, with interactive displays to give an insight into the wide range of techniques and skills that the practice uses to design projects across the globe.
The workshops, which include 3D spirography, drawing, modelmaking, virtual reality design and painting with robots, will be led by Foster + Partners’ design teams. Visitors will learn more about what goes into designing buildings, neighbourhoods and cities while exploring their creativity.
A number of buildings in London designed by Foster + Partners will also be accessible during Open House 2019. These include Bloomberg (City of London), Capital City Academy (Brent), HM Treasury (Westminster); One Bishops Square and Crossrail Place Roof Garden (Tower Hamlets); and City Hall (Southwark).
Open House London is an annual celebration of the capital’s architecture. It takes place during the weekend of 21-22 September 2019, when more than 800 buildings, many of which are normally closed, are opened to the public – all for free. It is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the richness of London’s architectural heritage.
