Bathroom Fittings for Duravit and Hoesch

Bathroom suites normally consist only of ‘ceramic’ items - bath, shower unit, washbasin, toilet and bidet – requiring people to match taps, accessories and other bathroom furniture as best they can. The practice has a holistic and integrated approach to the design of interiors and believes this separation to be artificial. It has collaborated with two German companies – Duravit and Hoesch – to design a bathroom suite with a fully complementary range of bathroom, furniture, taps and accessories, which provides cohesive interiors for domestic and commercial bathrooms.

There are more than thirty elements in the Duravit/Hoesch series, ranging from baths, shower units and basins to towel rails and liquid soap dispensers. Each of these elements is generated by a consistent geometry based on two adjacent circles. All the sanitary elements are made from high-quality porcelain, and the showers and baths are made from vacuum-formed acrylic. The bath has an optional whirlpool system and is available in free-standing and built-in versions or with a wall attachment. Both the basins and baths are generous in capacity but have a light appearance because of the extremely fine profile of their rims, which also aids easy access to the bathtub. The shower unit has a transparent surround and optional side-jets for hydromassage. The range also includes one and two-person steam baths. The storage units - wall-mounted mirrored cabinets and larger free-standing cupboards for storing towels and bathrobes - follow the geometry of the sanitary elements. The curved doors of the cabinets have a wide opening angle, allowing especially easy access to their contents.

The series can be used in conjunction with a family of taps designed by the practice for Rubinetterie Stella. This Italian company has been manufacturing taps since 1882 and has a reputation for innovation and quality. The taps are available in a variety of forms and finishes suitable for a wide range of interiors. Exploiting a unique mechanism, the taps allow the user to control both water flow and temperature with unprecedented ease. The first five products in the range are a mono-command basin tap, a bidet tap, a kitchen tap, a bath tap and a thermostatic control.
