Norman Foster and Walter Knoll first started working together when it came to furnishing the Reichstag in Berlin. Since then, the Foster 500 line, specially created for Walter Knoll, has become a symbol of the synthesis of architecture and furnishing. The modular range comprises leather chairs, sofas, benches and glass occasional tables. The sofa is arranged on a floating base, and the back and armrests fit together in a perfect relationship characterised by precision and conciseness. The seating is available in two styles: the 500 has a broader seat depth and width, as well as wider armrests, and comes with loose seat and back cushions. The 501 is a smaller version with a loose seat cushion and a fixed back. The later Foster 503 differs from its predecessors in scale and is proportionally larger all over.
