Foster + Partners’ Abu Dhabi office is located at the heart of the city on Hamdan Street with views of the sea and the old city. The area hosts a vibrant mix of shops, cafes and restaurants, with the office overlooking Capital Garden, a green oasis in the middle of the bustling city.
The Abu Dhabi team is a diverse mix of people from all across the world, who share their time between the office, on project sites, and client meetings. The team regularly get together to celebrate personal milestones and festivals, often with colleagues from the Dubai office, and participate in sports events such as marathons, 5k running and cycling throughout the year.
As the practice’s first office in the region, the Abu Dhabi office played a key role during the design of Masdar City – a desert community that aims to be carbon neutral and zero waste – and the Masdar Institute, as well as the World Trade Center Souk. Currently, the team is focused on delivering the Zayed National Museum – a monument and memorial to the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the founding president of the UAE, and the centrepiece of the Saadiyat Island Cultural District.
