Foster + Partners’ Dubai office is located at the heart of the city’s Design District. The fully pedestrianised and walkable area is home to a range of creative companies and the Dubai Institute of Design and Innovation, a university for the next generation of designers.
The Dubai team is made up of eight different nationalities, reflecting the diversity of the city. Members of the team often meet outside of working hours to play padel, enjoy barbeques in the desert and take part in the annual Wadi Bih Run, in the scenic Hatta mountains. The studio often connects with the Foster + Partners team in Abu Dhabi, for work and social events.
The Dubai office boasts spectacular views of the city, including some of Foster + Partners’ completed projects. The practice has celebrated the openings of buildings such as ICD Brookfield Place, a major office and retail development in the heart of the Dubai International Financial Centre district; Apple Dubai Mall, a highly innovative response to the culture and climate of the Emirates which demonstrates Apple’s pioneering ambition to create inspirational civic spaces for all; House of Wisdom, which conceptualises the library as a social hub for learning, supported by innovation and technology; and The Lana, Dorchester Collection, a luxury hotel and residential development located between downtown Dubai and the Dubai Design District.
